About us

Why We Started The Refuge Fellowship?

The Refuge was founded with two unique objectives:

1. To be a place of intensive, life-changing discipleship (learning).

2. To be a place where the lost and broken can experience the reality of Jesus Christ.

Intensive Discipleship:

The Refuge is a church for those who are hungry to learn—first of all the Bible, but also a whole lot of other thing too (theology, history, apologetics, etc.). We believe that Christians are “transformed through the renewing of the mind” (Romans 12:2), and so provide opportunities all week long for transformative growth—individual discipleship, seminars, conferences, and even a MA level theological program for those desiring formal ministry training.

A Place for the Broken:

Around here you will find a lot of people from tragic backgrounds (sin, abuse, poverty, addiction) who have been totally remade by the power of God. We are a place that welcomes the lost and broken with open arms, and we expect God to meet them.

The Refuge Fellowship Statement of Faith:

THE BIBLE: We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testament to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

THE TRINITY: We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

JESUS: We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

SALVATION: We believe that all people are born in sin and must be regenerated by the Holy Spirit to experience a life-giving relationship with God. According to the Bible, this takes place when an individual believes the gospel of Jesus Christ and surrenders to Him as Lord and Master.

THE GOSPEL: Jesus Christ took the sins of the world upon Himself and then suffered and died on their behalf. He then rose from the dead, proving that His saving work for all was accomplished. Those who believe this message and surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord are instantly and eternally saved.

MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, Who indwells Christians and enables them to live a godly life. We also believe that the Holy Spirit desires to empower all believers to speak and minister in supernatural power.

ETERNAL LIFE: We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are born again will experience a resurrection of life and those who are lost will experience a resurrection of damnation.

GOD’S PEOPLE: We believe that all born again believers in our Lord Jesus Christ are part of one spiritual family—the body of Christ.
